BT Quadbox Chambers

Quadbox Modular Access Chambers are made from strong High Density Polyethylene.   

Available in two size options, the chamber is built using 150mm deep sections stacked on top of each other until the required depth is reached. Available in the 104 standard (915mm x 445mm clear opening) and 106 standard (1310 x 610mm clear opening) sizes, Quadbox is the only modular access chamber approved for use on BT Openreach networks.

The Quad system has an excellent strength to weight ratio and each section is ribbed internally to improve performance. The high-strength plastic material used also means that duct entries are also easy to achieve using a standard holesaw mounted on a cordless drill.

The modular design makes this system ideal for overbuilding on existing ducted networks. Existing cables can be managed through the chamber walls and duct entries can be cut in any location. Chambers can also be benched to avoid existing services. 

Using the Quad system, complete chambers can be constructed from excavation to reinstatement in a very short timeframe - a huge improvement on the traditional concrete equivalent.

 

Quadbox Chamber Base

BT stipulates that the base is constructed in one of the following three methods;

  • 50mm of dry mix concrete on top of 100mm of compacted Type 1
  • 150mm of compacted Type 1
  • 150mm concrete (C20 or dry mix)

Chamber Sections

Each 150mm is stacked on top of the previous one until the required height is attained, with the first section being laid directly onto the base. Each section is 150mm high.

Chamber Steps

Steps are required when the depth exceeds 600mm. Chambers deeper than 600mm require an additional step for every extra 300mm of depth.

Duct Entry points

Duct entries are best created using a holesaw. The chamber sections incorporate guides to ensure that the correct duct spacings are maintained.

Cable Management

Our Cable Management Kit contains 2 brackets, 2 pins and 2 bearers to ensure cabling is neatly managed.

Chamber Covers

The B125 loading pre-filled concrete covers incorporate lift and slide sections that can be operated by one person working alone. They are BSI Kitemarked and are actually the only concrete cover to be approved by both BT and Virgin.

Backfill

Unless otherwise stipulated the backfill should be constructed using compacted Type 1 in 150mm layers.
