Cover Boards - 9mm

Cover Boards are used to cap over existing timber fascia boards. They should only be used where the existing timber that is to be covered is sound and free from rot. Cover Boards are traditionally 9mm thick and are available in a range of board widths from 100mm to 275mm. All of our Cover Boards are 5 metres in length.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF UPVC COVER BOARDS

Our Cover Boards are manufactured by the market leading PVC building product manufacturers FloPlast and Freefoam. Our FloPlast and Freefoam cover boards are 9mm and 10mm thick respectively and feature a return leg on the bottom of the board which has an internal measurement of 33mm, and they act both as a support to the soffit system as well as providing an aesthetic finish by allowing a greater degree of tolerance for irregularities in the existing timber or brickwork.

These capping boards will not deteriorate as their outer skins are weather, chemical and impact resistant and like all PVC products they are impervious to infestation by insects. This ensures that there is very little requirement for ongoing maintenance after installation other then a clean down with soap water from time to time.

As with our UPVC Fascia Boards these Cover Boards can be nailed, cut, drilled and shaped using traditional wood working tools, and they also benefit from being fire resistant as they are diffficult to ignite and do not burn freely.

As an additional feature UPVC Cover Boards can also be used as internal window boards when laid on top of existing timber window sills, these are virtually stain resistant, are easily cleaned and do not require painting.

HOW TO MEASURE COVER BOARDS

Cover Boards are measured externally from tip to tip. This means that, as the bottom return lip of the cover board is 9mm thick, a 150mm Cover Board will actually cover 141mm of the existing fascia, and a 175mm Cover Board will cover 166mm of exsting fascia. If ths sounds a little confusing take a quick look at the short video below which explains it visually.

DIFFERENT STYLES OF COVER BOARDS

We stock three different styles of UPVC Cover Board.

For those wanting a simple, unfussy finish there are two sizes of the Standard L Shaped Boards. These Cover Boards are 9mm and 10mm thick and have a slightly rounded edge giving them a similar look to our popular range of Standard 18mm UPVC Replacement Fascia Boards. These UPVC Cover Boards range in width from 100mm (4") to 275mm (11") and come in 5m lengths as standard.

For those wanting more detail in the eaves, we also stock Ogee Cover Boards. These feature a moulded decorative line on the front of the Board providing more of a period style elegance which can be further enhanced when coupled with our Ogee Gutter Systems. These Ogee Capping Boards range in width from 150mm (6") to 250mm (10") and are a standard length of 5m.

COLOUR OPTIONS FOR COVER BOARDS

The Standard L Shaped Boards stocked are available in White and four different Woodgrain style Colours - Anthracite Grey, Black Ash, Golden Oak, and Rosewood, as well as two smooth finish styles; storm grey and dark grey. Rosewood is a mahogany style colour finish but with the added benefit of an enhanced grain pattern.

The Ogee Cover Boards stocked are available in White as this is the most popular colour for this style.

GUARANTEE OF UPVC COVER BOARD

The UPVC Cover Boards stocked by PVC Cladding carry a guarantee in relation to discolouration and product Performance which lasts 10 years.

Are PVC Cover Boards Safe?

Our FloPlast cover boards carry a Class 2Y surface spread of flame rating in accordance to BS 476-7: 1997. This means that although the spread-of-flame across the surface of PVC is limited, the material does tend to char and may fall away when exposed to fire. Freefoam’s smooth finish cover boards conform to both Class 1 resistance to fire propagation and Class 1Y resistance to spread of flames specification requirements.

However, it is unlikely that the roof trim system will significantly affect the overall fire performance on any roof on which it is installed. Where it is normal practice to carry the eaves box over, between dwellings, it is important that the box is firestopped at compartment walls with a proprietary fire stop material.

UPVC COVER BOARD INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
