Cast Iron Mech 416 Soil System

Mech 416 cast iron soil system is an innovative socketless range of cast iron soil pipes and fittings that offers a modern and sustainable solution for above ground soil and waste installations.

Designed to be a fit-and-forget system, Mech 416 system boasts exceptional durability, with a lifespan exceeding 100 years. Additionally, the cast iron material can be fully recycled at the end of its lifetime, making it an environmentally conscious choice.

Mech 416 is often the preferred option for repair and extension projects due to its simple and reliable coupling system. The advanced jointing techniques not only save time but also reduce labour costs, making it a cost-effective solution.

Manufactured by Hargreaves in a sleek matt black two-part epoxy coating and compliant with BS 416 (part 2) standards, the Mech 416 soil system combines the strength and longevity of a conventional socket and spigot cast iron system with an added advantage – it requires no sound insulation, unlike other soil systems.

Available in various sizes: 50mm, 70mm, 100mm and 150mm, the Mech 416 cast iron soil system by Hargreaves offers a compelling solution for above ground soil and waste installations, catering to both residential and commercial projects.

Please Note: some castings within the Mech416 and TX product ranges have "EN877" markings cast onto them. Whilst the castings are dimensionally common with some of the EN877 Halifax range of products, these products are outside the scope of the BBA Agrement and BSI Kitemark certifications.

Features & Benefits of Mech 416 Soil System

The Mech 416 mechanically jointed soil system is a versatile and advanced solution that offers several significant advantages over traditional piping systems:

  • Wide Compatibility: The Mech 416 system is designed to be compatible with a wide range of existing BS 416 systems apart from the 70mm diameter, making it an excellent choice for retrofitting or upgrading existing installations.
  • Quick & Efficient Installation: The two-part black matt epoxy resin used for jointing is not only durable and long-lasting but also adds a sleek and stylish touch to the installation. This streamlined process ensures a quick and hassle free installation, saving time and reducing labour costs.
  • Lightweight & Robust: Despite being lightweight and easy to handle, the Mech 416 system retains the traditional qualities of cast iron, such as strength and durability.
  • Quiet Operation: Cast iron's high density makes the Mech 416 system an excellent choice for environments where noise reduction is a priority. The dense material significantly reduces the sound of water flow, ensuring a quieter and more appropriate operation in settings such as residential or commercial buildings.
  • Enhanced Safety and Fire Resistance: Cast iron has a higher melting point than materials like uPVC or PE piping, making the Mech 416 system an incredibly safe option for public installations. In the event of a fire, it will not emit any toxic fumes or gases, further contributing to the overall safety and fire resistance of the system.
  • Low Maintenance Requirements: Cast iron is a low-maintenance material, and the Mech 416 system takes this advantage to the next level. With improved surface coatings, this system offers a truly fit-and-forget solution in most installations, minimising the need for frequent maintenance and repairs.

Overall, the Mech 416 mechanically jointed soil system offers a comprehensive solution that combines efficiency, durability, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
