Common Uses for 110mm Drainage
The most common use for this drainage system is for transporting foul drainage away from a single property. Foul water can come from either a soil stack along the side of the house that feeds toilet waste straight into a drainage pipe, or from waste pipes that output water from household appliances into a gully connected to a drainage pipe.
110mm underground pipes are also suitable for transporting rainwater, as they can be connected to downpipes via rainwater adaptors, or the downpipe shoe can channel water into a bottle gully connected to the drainage system.
110mm drainage is also often paired with a soakaway crate. Here, surface water is drained into the pipe via a downpipe or channel drain, where it is transported to the soakaway to be distributed into the surrounding soil at a controlled rate to avoid flooding.
110mm Drainage Pipe Installation Tips
Whilst we provide a full underground drainage installation guide separately, here are a few key points to keep in mind when working with 110mm drainage:
- The minimum fall that 110mm drainage pipes should be installed at is 1 in 80; however, we recommend a fall of 1 in 40 for residential installations of 5 or fewer homes. For more information on this, check out our full guide on drainage invert levels and falls.
- Utilise long radius bends where possible in the system, as they reduce the risk of blockages when compared to shorter, more abrupt bends.
- For a smooth and safe joining experience, we recommend chamfering the ends of 110mm drainage pipes and applying lubricant before inserting them into a fitting. This will ensure a tight and leak-free fit and will prevent the rubber seals from being damaged by potential jagged edges.
