How Is PVC Cladding Fixed To The Battens?

Fixings for PVC Cladding

All of our external cladding systems use a secret fixing system to ensure that the finished installation has a clean, unblemished appearance.

From time to time we do see examples of PVC Cladding installations where the installer has mistakenly used polytop pins meant for fascia and soffit installations. It looks a mess and in fact it goes against the whole design ethos of PVC or timber cladding - the reason that there is an overlap on each board is to aid weathering and to completely hide all fixings.

PVC Cladding boards should be fixed to battens using 30mm Stainless Steel Cladding Pins. Don't be tempted to use any other type of nail as there is a chance that moisture on the head of the fixing could lead to unsightly rust lines that stain the face of the cladding. Each board is nailed to the batten through the exposed lip or tongue of the cladding. The next board is then laid in place over the top of the the lip, completely covering the nail. The final top fixing is covered by a top edge trim.
