This 88 degree long tail bend is sometimes referred to as a swivel bend or a pistol bend. It is used to create a sharp change of direction in a soil pipe, often in conjunction with another fitting.
As Mech 416 cast iron pipes and fittings have no sockets, couplers are required to connect this bend to a pipe.
